Can vaginal polyps grow?

Although polyps can grow in a wide range of locations, it is still confusing as to whether polyps can grow in such an extremely private area as the vagina. In fact, the vagina can grow polyps, which are the most common cervical polyps among female gynecological diseases. As the name suggests, it refers to polyps attached to the cervix or uterine mucosa. The formation of such polyps is mostly related to the hygiene of the genitals, whether it is personal cleanliness or sexual hygiene.

Cervical polyps are a manifestation of chronic cervicitis. There is a type of polyp whose root is attached to the cervical opening or cervical canal. It is formed by local hyperplasia of the cervical mucosa under the stimulation of inflammation and protrudes out of the external opening of the cervix. The surface of the polyp is covered by a layer of columnar epithelium, which contains cervical glands. The stroma is rich in microvessels and loose connective tissue, accompanied by inflammatory cell infiltration. This type of polyp can be single or multiple, and is generally small in size, with a diameter of less than 1 cm. It looks like a tongue, is bright red in color, soft and brittle in texture, easy to bleed, and has a slender pedicle. Another type of cervical polyp occurs in the cervical vaginal part, with a surface covered by stratified squamous epithelium and a stroma containing fibrous connective tissue. This type of polyp is superficial, protrudes to the surface, has a wide base, is light red in color, and has a tough texture.

Generally speaking, women with cervical polyps do not have any discomfort symptoms. Sometimes there is an increase in leucorrhea, or blood in the leucorrhea, or bleeding during intercourse. If the above situation is found, the patient should go to the hospital for treatment. Many patients have cervical polyps discovered during screening or gynecological examinations for other diseases.

The occurrence of cervical polyps, in addition to inflammatory stimulation, is also related to factors such as sexual life and childbirth. Married women account for more than 98% of patients. Uterine polyps are a very serious disease. Patients with uterine polyps will have a lot of pressure. They should pay more attention to preventing uterine polyps in daily life and work. Uterine polyps must be treated in a regular hospital in time. Pay attention to understanding the causes of uterine polyps as they are vulnerable to invasion by bacteria.
