Is cervicitis the same as cervical erosion?

Cervicitis and cervical erosion are both common gynecological diseases. The causes of the two diseases are similar. Both are caused by inflammation due to infection or injury. In addition, if you have cervicitis, you are also prone to cervical erosion, which is an important cause of cervical erosion. Therefore, the two diseases are not the same disease. No matter which disease it is, it has a relatively large impact on women's health and should be treated in time.

As we all know, cervicitis is a common gynecological disease, and some women regard cervicitis as cervical erosion. In fact, the two are different, but cervicitis is one of the causes of cervical erosion.

As the saying goes, cervicitis is essentially an inflammation of the cervix caused by infection, trauma and other reasons. It is also a cause of cervical erosion and can be divided into acute cervicitis and chronic cervicitis.

Clinically, the latter is more common, manifested by increased and purulent leucorrhea, pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region when tired, and sometimes accompanied by frequent urination or difficulty urinating, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, infertility, etc.

Cervical erosion is only one of the pathological manifestations of chronic cervicitis. It refers to the shedding or ulceration of the cervical vaginal epithelium at the external os of the cervix, and the appearance of a fine-grained red area.

Causes of cervicitis

1. Mechanical stimulation or injury Long-term chronic mechanical stimulation and injury are the main causes of cervicitis, so almost more than half of married women have cervicitis. In addition, bacteria can easily enter deep tissues or lymphatic vessels through wounds caused by miscarriage or childbirth, and slowly develop into cervicitis.

2. Pathogens The most common cause of cervicitis is common pyogenic bacterial infection. Gonorrhea and chlamydia are also very common and often coexist. There are also Trichomonas infection and tuberculosis infection. Others include the currently very important human papillomavirus infection and herpes virus infection, etc.

3. Chemical substances include strong acids and strong alkalis. Flushing the vagina with acidic or alkaline solutions of higher concentrations, as well as sitz baths with highly corrosive drugs, may cause varying degrees of vaginitis or cervicitis.

4. Radiation: The use of some rays to treat gynecological diseases can also cause cervicitis, but it is rarely used clinically.

5. Unclean sexual life is also a common cause of cervicitis.
