What causes intermenstrual bleeding?

Generally, women's vagina will only discharge some blood during menstruation, which is the female physiological period, which is about three to seven days. However, some women have a very long menstrual period or even have two periods a month. At this time, they have to consider suffering from some gynecological diseases, such as cervicitis and endometritis, which can cause excessive menstrual bleeding. In addition, some other phenomena in life can also cause intermenstrual bleeding.

1. Very small amount of bleeding during ovulation: It appears as a small amount of brown discharge or light red mucus, which stops naturally after 1-2 days and is considered normal.

2. A small amount of bleeding before menstruation: A small amount of brown discharge or a small amount of dark red blood appears 2-3 days before menstruation, followed by normal menstruation for 5-6 days. The cause may be luteal insufficiency and premature endometrial bleeding. Some people may have a small amount of cervical bleeding before menstruation due to endometriosis (part of the endometrium is in the cervical canal).

3. A small amount of bleeding after menstruation: There is still a small amount of dark brown blood 2-3 days after the end of menstruation. It may be that the corpus luteum has not completely dissolved. Measuring the basal body temperature can find that the body temperature has not dropped significantly; some people have a weak constitution.

4. Bleeding of moderate or more during non-menstrual periods: This is more common in functional uterine bleeding during adolescence and menopause. This type of bleeding is irregular. If the hormones fluctuate greatly, the bleeding will be heavier, and if the hormones fluctuate slightly, the bleeding will be less.

5. Bleeding caused by contraceptive ring stimulation: Some women of childbearing age experience increased menstrual flow and longer menstrual periods due to the presence of contraceptive rings. Even during non-menstrual periods, there will be a small amount of bleeding, which is related to the weakened coagulation mechanism.

6. Bleeding related to miscarriage: Some women do not know they are pregnant and think threatened miscarriage is menstruation. Also be careful about bleeding caused by ectopic pregnancy.

Intermenstrual bleeding may also be caused by spleen deficiency, which can cause women to feel weak and have abnormal menstruation. However, there are many other reasons that can cause intermenstrual bleeding. Therefore, if you find obvious symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital for treatment in time. You can do some professional examinations to avoid misdiagnosis.
