How big is the egg released?

How big is the egg released?

The egg is secreted by the ovary and is the stage where life can continue. We should pay attention to the time of egg discharge and the quality of the egg. The egg will be discharged during the ovulation period. Generally, the egg can reach about 20mm. As long as you choose to have sex during the ovulation period, the chance of conception is relatively high. In addition, female friends should develop good living habits and pay attention to the hygiene of the vagina and uterus to improve the quality of the egg.

1. How big is the egg when it is released

How big does the egg have to be when it is released? Generally speaking, the egg will be released when the diameter of the follicle reaches about 20mm. Normally, we cannot see the egg before ovulation because it is very small. Only when it develops into a follicle can we see it under a microscope. At that time, it is already very large. The 10th to 14th day before menstruation is called the ovulation period.

A mature egg is generally larger than 20mm, and the smallest one is normal at more than 18mm. The growth from primary follicle to mature follicle can be divided into 8 levels. The first five levels are too small and take too long to grow, so they do not have much practical significance. The focus should be on the 6th level onwards. The diameter of the sixth-level follicle is 5mm; after 5 days, it grows to 10mm and becomes the seventh-level follicle; after another 5 days of development, it reaches the eighth-level follicle with a diameter of 16mm. The 8th level follicles are mature follicles.

Therefore, it takes a total of 10 days for the 6th level follicle to grow to the 8th level follicle, which is exactly the follicular phase in a menstrual cycle. Starting from 16mm, after another 2-3 days, it will develop into a 20mm follicle and the egg will be released.

2. When is the egg released from the body?

When is the egg released? The egg is released about 14 days before the next menstrual period. The day the egg is released is the ovulation day. To be on the safe side, we call the 5 days before ovulation, 4 days after ovulation, and the 10 days including the ovulation day the ovulation period.

Women with irregular menstrual cycles cannot use this method to infer the time of egg release, but they can check whether ovulation has occurred by measuring basal body temperature, ovulation test strips, observing cervical mucus, B-ultrasound monitoring, etc. During the ovulation period, the body will undergo some subtle changes. Ovulation is often accompanied by symptoms such as slightly higher body temperature, lower abdominal pain, and breast tenderness.

3. Survival time of the egg after release

How long can an egg survive after being released? For most women, the egg survives for 2 days, for a few it survives for 3 days, but for many women, the egg survives for only 1 day, and the shortest is even less than 12 hours.

Normally, women of childbearing age will only release one egg per month. If the egg survives for only one day or less, then the couple who are planning to have a baby should arrange sexual intercourse on the day of ovulation.

From the description in this article, we can know that when the egg grows to about 20mm, it will be released from the ovary. After being released, the egg will survive in the fallopian tube for one day, or less than one day. If the egg meets the sperm at this time, the woman will become pregnant.
